Owners comment:
Sailing yacht Seline, Brand/type: Ouwens 28, S-frame long keeler, built 1957, steel (longitudinally welded and riveted to truss) 28 feet/8.54 mtr. Engine is a Nanni 3.90HE, 3 cylinder, 22.5 hp.
The yacht was built at the Schiedam yard Ouwens. The shipyard no longer exists. Of this type of sailing yacht, as far as I know, 3 different versions were built; the 26-foot, 28-foot and 29-foot. Of the 28-footer, probably 5 were built. How many of these are still in service is unknown to me, but I have never come across one.
The previous owner also had the yacht for about 20 years and was the 3rd or 4th owner. The yacht has always been used by one owner for a long time. There is still a certificate of measurement of the then Dutch Kruiser Class, of which the sail no. H415 is the remnant The previous owner added many stainless steel parts and tackled the interior design. They also made several sea voyages with the yacht to, among others, Denmark.
We bought the yacht in December 2002 and christened it Seline. We mainly sailed with her on the inland waterways; IJsselmeer and Randmeren. Also the Zeeland waters as part of the Staande Mast Route, from the Grevelingen to Friesland.
We have made no substantial changes to the ship. We did renew the entire electrical installation of the hull, after water damage in 2019. Also log, depth sounder and VHF radio have been renewed. All mattresses/cushions have been recently replaced. The kitchen area has been renewed and done in Trespa. Regarding the engine, the exhaust skin grommet has been renewed (welded) and the cooling water pump recently (2023) replaced. There is a recent (3 years) summer cover (red dacron tent cloth) and a very solid winter cover (gray bisonyl).
